Question:

Salamun alaikum, I would like to know the ruling regarding a circumstance that occurs to me. I travel round the year within the country for sales purpose, approximately 4-8 times in a month approximately 200-400 km per trip. But past 3 months due to holiday I haven’t traveled, so what is the ruling to travel in this month of Ramadan. Will the fast be valid, as we travel regularly throughout the year.

Answer:

Wa Alaykum Assalam wr wb
Frequent traveler is who travels for work at least three days in every week
or ten days in every month. Such person must fast and pray full Prayer in
his frequent traveling. You travel less than that so you are required to
pray Qasr and not to fast in your travel.

Question:

I am from Singapore and I have a girlfriend whom I intend to marry and she is from the Philippines. She was a Catholic and married to a man from Iran who was there to pursue his studies. Their marriage was not in the form of Islam. They had a civil marriage in the country. However, after a couple of years he went back to Iran and did not return. Neither was he in constant contact with her. In Philippines they do not have divorce, it is only annulment. This process may take years for it to have an verdict. The representing lawyer asked to pay the judge out of court inorder to expedite the process but we declined as we see it as a bribery and it is a sin in Islam.Since the marriage was not in the form of Islam is it considered valid in Islam? Can I marry her first while the case is still on going in court? Few years ago she has converted to Islam while working in Singapore. I am confused how to purse this matter. Please advise جَزَاكَ ٱللَّٰهُ خَيْرًا‎

Answer:

Wa Alaykum Assalam wr wb
If they were married, what type of marriage they had between them? Talaq is
must if there was a valid marriage. If no marriage then no question of
Talaq.
If they were living in sin, then no marriage.
