Question:
Assalam Alaikum My wife had a tube implanted in her uterus (as a family planning) and she is bleeding up till now, she saw her last period 5 days ago and after the implant, she is witnessing a period-like blood. Her concern is, should she go ahead with her ibadaat since the last time she experienced her period is just 5 days? Now she is praying and even fasting. Please what is the correct thing to do? We hope the question is clear. Thank you.
Answer:
The bleeding which is more than the usual days of menstruation is not
Menstruation but Istihaza which means just bleeding for any other reason.
Istihaza needs Wuzu for every Namaz if the amount of blood does not fill
the whole pad, which is called Qaleela, and if the blood fills the whole
pad but does not leak out of it, it is called Mwdium Istihaza, mwhich
requires one zghusl before morning Namaz along with Wuzu for every Namaz.
The Istihaza becomes big, when the blood fills and leaks out of the pad,
where three zghusls are required; one before Morning prayer, and one before
Zuhr and last before Maghrib Namaz. Istihaza requires the lady to perform
all the duties like any other person.
