Question:

salaam maulana , i have to ask this question that i live in india and we have relations with all the communities . during two months of moharram they have all sorts of functions and we just dont want to go.. but there are some times that these people feel bad and tell us that its very foolish that you people are mourning for so long .. we have been in a fix how to answer them to convince them instead of just telling them that its is our religion. also want to know that can we attend such function during the days of moharram or chehlum like birthdayds or aqiqa ceremonies of sunni freiends where there is no music and dancing . thanx

Answer:

We should avoid any celebration during the days of mourning the tragedies
of Ahull Bayt (AS), but if you face a difficult situation with other
communities, you can attend functions which does have unlawful acts like
music or songs, as part of Taqiyyah. Taqiyyah is applied according to the
extent of need.

Question:

Salaam alaikum. First of all I would like to send you condolences for the loss of your mother. May Allah grant her a place in jannat with the 14 masoomin. My question is regarding sweeping the floor at night. Our ancestors have said that sweeping the floor at night reduces blessings in the house. Is this true? Please advice. Thank you.

Answer:

Cleaning the house is recommended always and we have no evidence that
sweeping the house during night is harmful. Many things done by previous
generations are not accurate.
