Imam al-Sadiq (AS) said, 'Generosity is one of the noble traits possessed by prophets. It is the pillar of belief, such that only a true believer will be generous, as well as one who possesses great certainty and high aspiration, for generosity is a gleam from the light of certainty, and the one who knows what he wants finds it easy to give away.

Birth Anniversary of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him)

May 10, 2016

Today, on the Islamic date of 3rd Shaban, World Ahlul Bayt Islamic League (WABIL) congratulates the universe on the birth anniversary of the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him and his holy family [pbuh&hf]), the third Imam and divinely appointed leader of the Muslims after the Prophet, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), the son of Ali ibn Abu Talib and the Prophet’s daughter Fatima (peace be upon them both).

Imam Hussain (pbuh) was born in 4 A.H (625 CE) in Madinah. He is known as the greatest martyr in Islam for the huge sacrifice of life and family that he offered to save the faith from corruption, in 61 A.H. However, this focus on his martyrdom often means that people overlook the joy that his birth brought to the Prophetic household in and the wonderful message of peace, worship and love that his pious life embodied.

The Holy Prophet (pbuh&hf) stated that ‘Hussain is from me and I am from Hussain’. This did not just mean biologically, but that the Imam’s life, from childhood to maturity, was in propagating, serving, and indeed saving the faith, an inheritance indeed from the Prophet. Imam Hussain invited people to the word of God with love and kindness. He worked humbly and tirelessly for Islam. He was such a precious blessing as a child that the Prophet of God would prolong his prostrations when Imam Hussain climbed on his back during prayers. Indeed, he is such a blessing to the universe that the Prophet declared that both Imam Hussain and his brother Imam Hasan (pbut) are leaders of the youth of Paradise.

Imam Hussain left us a legacy of wonderful advice, such as:

neighbourhood is the best kind of kinship;
helping others stands for goodness of heart;
hospitality promotes worship;
when other people turn to you in need, consider it a favour of Allah, do not be wearied of this favour or it will move onto someone else.

Such wise statements are just as relevant today as they were 1400 years ago.

Today as the heavens and the earth rejoice, WABIL extends its warmest wishes to all on the coming to the world of this exemplary saviour for mankind, Imam Hussain!
