Answer:

Husband is not allowed in Islam to force his wife to be pregnant. She has
full right to decide for herself as she will suffer the pain of
pregnancy, labor and delivery. You are not allowed to force her, but may
try to convince her in a good way, then she has the right to accept or
reject.

Question:

Salaam sayyed, I am using a family planning method (cupper T) which extends my period to 10 days instead of my normal days 7 or 8 days. Also, the interval between 2 periods is now 2 weeks or 15 days instead of my usual 3 weaks. My question is should pray after counting the usual days or wait for 10 days? Should I stop praying when it starts? I follow Ayat. Khamnei

Answer:

If your period has become ten days then you should take it as ten days. Stop praying when it starts and perform Ghusl and pray when it ends.

Question:

Salam Alaykum, I am in the Taqlid if Ayatollah Sayyid Sistani. My question is: If I have been given money by my parents on which they have paid khums is it necessary for me to pay khums at the end of the year if the money is surplus for me? Also what should be done in the situations where there is uncertainty as to whether khums has been paid by my parents on this money or in the situation they have definitely not paid khums on this money? Thank you

Answer:

As you have become the new owner of that money, any amount remaining from
that money after one year or on your Khums date, must be included in Khums
calculations, means you must pay its Khums.
There is no difference whether the previous owner paid or did not pay Khums
when he was the owner.

Question:

Salaamun alykum, Recently I was having a discussion with one of my students and he has come up up these questions, I will really appreciate if you can help me answer them. Throughout my life I have understood that during the time of nabi Noah the whole world was filled with water. Since this student is a science student he says that in the history of the earth there is no evidence that the earth was in water. A new model of the early Earth suggests that until around 2.5 billion years ago oceans covered almost the whole of the planet. Just 2% to 3% of the Earth’s surface would have been dry land, compared with 28% today. My question is as follows, According to Islam how old is the earth? When did the deluge of Noah happen? Did the flooding happen in that particular region? Or perhaps people had not inhabited the earth? Maulans Saheb, please note this student is a good believer. Jazakumullah Iltimas e dua

Answer:

We can not confirm the exact time when the earth was created.
The deluge of Noah happened after 950 years of his calling people to the
Truth, and refusal of most of them. It killed all those who rejected the
Truth which was conveyed by Noah. Obviously, the area where they used to
live was not all over the earth, but part of the earth, most likely, the
area of Iraq and surroundings areas as we read in the books. Noah did not
reach to Americas or Australia, so we can not say that the deluge covered
the whole earth, but only the area where the disbelievers used to live at,
as it was to clean the earth from their evil.

Question ID 414 - 2013-04-12 12:41:31

Question:

Salam My age is 33yrs and till now I had been fasting in every ramzaan except those when I had been gone through operations for kids n once for renal stone. I didn't remember how many farz fasts I had kaza with me so for the last few years I had been fasting at least once or twice a week. Now I think that my kaza fasts would have finished n if I keep on fasting with the niyat of nafil fast n still there is any kaza left with me which I may not b remembering so will my fasts kept with the niyat of nafil compensate my kaza? Now also when I do niyat of nafil fast I do say that I'm fasting nafil but if any of kaza of my farz is left which I don't know then this may b treated as my kaza. So am I correct or else please suggest me what I should do. Thanks.

Answer:

No Nafl fasting (recommended Fasting) is valid when there is obligatory
Qaza fasting, so, when you are still not sure that all your obligatory
fasts are done as Qaza, you may fast with the intention of Amma fithimma,
which means for what ever you are responsible, whether Qaza if there is a
remaining Qaza, or if there is no Qaza then Nafl.
